About Stem Cells

stem cells prepared for procedureStem cells are one of the most astonishing discoveries of modern medicine, which allows a new perspective on treating many diseases. They can give people health, youth, strength, longevity and even save people’s lives and give them the last chance to live. Stem cells are the cell-predecessors, all other types of cells are generated from them and form different organs and tissues. These cells have a unique ability to heal and repair damaged tissue of a disease or injury. What makes the stem cell one of a kind is its power to become any of a different 220 human body cells. This characteristic is unique among all the other sells which can only create their own.

In today's cellular regenerative medicine technologies extend to the lead position. Prospects of cell therapy for the treatment of many diseases attracted the attention of researchers and practitioners all over the world. Stem cells play the role of a tool that can restore a damaged tissue and correct the dysfunction of organs.

There are two categories of stem cells: embryonic - which are found in the embryo, and adult ones -which are present in the human body after developing. Both of these stem cells are used to treat diseases and injuries, but there are many controversies surrounding embryonic stem cell treatments. Besides that, using adult stem cells eliminates the risk of any infection or rejection, because they are extracted from a patient’s own body.

Adult stem cells are a part of many organ tissues in the body, but the ones used for treatments come from either bone marrow or fat. The advantage of those that are extracted from the fat tissue is mainly convenience, because it is much easier to access. In addition, the adipose tissue contains much larger volume of mesenchymal stem cell than it is found in the bone marrow.

There are many different diseases that can be treated with adult stem cells. The list includes Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer's, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Diabetes type 2, Lupus, Kidney Disease, Liver Disease, Stroke, Heart, Conditions, COPD, ALS, Spinal Cord Injuries, Muscular, Dystrophy, Angina and Coronary Artery Disease, Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fatigue and Fibromyalgia Sport Injuries and Rotator Cuff Tears, Natural Joint Reconstruction for Hips and Knees, Allergies and Sinitus, Sexual Dysfunction, Prostate Disorders, Heartburn, Hiatal Hernia, Indigestion, GERDS, Osteoporosis, Lung Disorders, Chronic Hepatitis, Memory Loss, Colitus, Irritable Bowel, Crohn's Disease, Headaches and Migraines, Neurological Disorders, Ataxia, Acne and Autism.

Swiss Medica uses a new technology called Autologous Adipose-derived Stem Cells (ADSC’s), harvesting the stem cells from patient’s own body. The advantage of this technology is that the whole procedure can be completed within the same day.

A high dose of stem cells extracted from the body can be obtained for only a couple of hours. That’s why Swiss Medica offers a complete in-clinic treatment, so there is no time wasted and no need for shipping samples to an outside laboratory and waiting days for the cells to be returned for an injection on a second visit. This faster process provides increased stem cell counts, without manipulation.

The procedure is done in 4 simple stages. Firstly, a small amount of fat is extracted from patient’s waist area. Secondly, stem cells are separated from fat cells in a high-speed stem cell centrifuge machine where centrifugal force separates stem cells from harvested fat. Thirdly, stem cells are enriched with patient’s blood plasma and then photo activated in AdiLight machine. Finally, they are ready for transfer, in other words, to be put back into patient’s body. This is done using a standard IV dip.
